Perkins & Morley (Jill Perkins and Jan Morley) is an established British design house making original, design-led, and sometimes quirky, greetings cards, artisan gifts and products for the home, all of which they are proud to say are made in the UK.
The British countryside and nature inspire a lot of their designs with supplementary subjects – baking and Shakespeare quotes, abstract and landscapes – being brought through from their outside interests and passions.
Jan says of their brand “Perkins & Morley really is an extension of ourselves! Our love of the countryside, our joy in creating art and our passion for having everything British Made and working with talented UK creators.
The Perkins & Morley story started many moons ago (over 30!) when Jill & I were both studying graphic design. Shared passions for art, design, travel, and nature led us to travel to Sri Lanka where we initially created designs for a wooden toy manufacturer. Still designing for other companies, we then branched out into tableware, and then, in 2010, an idea from Jill and a drawing of an otter from myself sparked the beginnings of our own brand with the ‘Collective Nouns’ series, and ‘Perkins & Morley’ was born.
Our designs are very much based around the UK’s wildlife – we love what it has to offer! Not only does the UK give us beautiful scenery and an immense variety of birds and animals; but there are talented craftspeople we can work with to make our products. We are proud to say we design and make everything in the UK.
Everything we do comes from our personalities, our backgrounds, our quirky sense of humour and our love of wildlife and nature. We like to think that our customers can appreciate the sense of wit in our work.
Every product type is explored when we launch a new collection – cards, coasters, key rings, mugs, prints, magnets, tea towels, gift wrap, tablemats and chopping boards – the list grows!”
